Hezbollah Targets Tel Aviv with Missile

Hezbollah escalated its conflict with Israel by launching its deepest strike yet, targeting Tel Aviv with a missile on Wednesday. While Israel intercepted the missile without casualties, the attack marked a significant intensification in hostilities between the two sides. This comes as Israel continues its campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, which has already resulted in more than 50 deaths in Lebanon on Wednesday alone, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. Over the past three days, Israeli airstrikes have killed 615 people and injured over 2,000.

The surge in violence mirrors the deadliest period Lebanon has faced since the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah. Amid rising tensions, Israel is activating reserve troops, signaling its intent to escalate the conflict. The Israeli military struck around 280 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, as Hezbollah fired rockets into northern Israel, wounding two people.

Hezbollah’s strikes, including the missile aimed at Tel Aviv, were retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes and the assassination of senior Hezbollah commanders, notably Ibrahim Kobeisi. Hezbollah claimed the missile targeted Mossad’s headquarters, though Israel dismissed this as psychological warfare. The ongoing conflict has displaced thousands, with families fleeing to cities like Beirut and Sidon, and 200,000 people displaced over the last year due to continued cross-border rocket fire.

The United Nations reported that more than 90,000 people have been displaced in the last five days alone, with the U.N. Security Council holding an emergency meeting on Lebanon at France’s request. Meanwhile, Israel has shifted troops from Gaza to its northern border in preparation for a potentially broader operation against Hezbollah. The violence shows no signs of abating, with Hezbollah vowing to continue its attacks until a ceasefire is reached in Gaza.
